About
The entrance is symbolised by an astonishing sculpture made of metallic tubes. This memorial evokes the Resistance and invites the visitor to reflect for a moment on the tragic events of World War II. The trail, specifically designed to make an impression, is comprised of a tunnel marked with crypts that recall those who were deported or executed by firing squad… Step by step the visitor goes deeper underground before finding freedom once more in the Jardin des Plantes.
Every year on 19th August at 11am, the sun illuminates a commemorative plaque that marks the liberation of Toulouse.
This collective work by the Atelier des Architectes Associés (the 3A) is remarkable in its conception, which blends architecture, sculpture and audio-visual arts.
