SETMI, WASTE-TO-ENERGY CONVERSION SITE

The Heating System Company of Le Mirail (SETMI) is a factory that incinerates household waste in the south of Toulouse.
Here, you can discover what becomes of our waste: how it is incinerated and, above all, how the energy and the slag from this form of combustion are used. Thanks to this factory a not-insignificant 10,000 households are supplied with hot water and central heating.

The conference room displays the main principles of this incineration process, of its energy use and of the treatment of the smoke generated. Then, from the belvedere that offers a panoramic view of the site, you can observe the bridge operator’s station and the impressive quarry that holds the waste.
