PARCOURS JACQUAIRE

Cazères was an important Jacobean centre, with a brotherhood, a pilgrims' house and a hospital. This Jacobean trail offers a self-guided tour in the footsteps of the pilgrims. You'll discover a rich and varied heritage. You can obtain a stamp at the tourist office, Case de Montserrat.

About

On the Via Garona route, along the banks of the Garonne, we invite you to walk upstream under a beautiful brick bridge dating from 1888.
This itinerary offers a quick tour of the historic centre of Cazères, a town born here at the confluence of the Garonne and Hourride rivers.
Suggested itinerary: the Hourride, the Bourguet fountain and waterfall, the public garden, the Case de Montserrat, the rue du château féodal, the church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption and its treasure trove of sacred art. Return to the quays of the Garonne by descending the little staircase known as the "grotto staircase" (to the right of the church), which will take you to the grotto of Notre-Dame and the miraculous fountain.
Halfway down (through the barred door), you can see the "souterrain", a cavity dug out by man that may have served as a refuge or early Christian oratory.
