JOLIMONT OBSERVATORY
*SITE CLOSED*
Built in 1846, the Jolimont observatory is one of the best conserved in France. It combines a series of astronomy instruments listed in the historical heritage inventory (transit telescope, refractory sky map telescope, 830mm telescope, a large 38cm lens telescope restored in 2009).
About
The Jolimont observatory is the headquarters of the Société d'Astronomie Populaire (SAP). Its team of volunteer members practises amateur astronomy while at the same time, within the limits of its means, ensuring the discovery of astronomy for the general public through conferences, visits and events such as: La Nuit des Etoiles, La Fête de la Science, les Journées du Patrimoine and observation of astronomical phenomena.
The Observatory is open to the public every Friday evening.
(reception from 9pm to 9.30pm - visit begins at 9.30pm).
On the last Friday of the month, the presentation of the observatory is replaced by a conference.
