Park and garden
JARDIN DES PLANTES
Small waterfalls, fountains surrounded by flowers…and sometimes even ponies! This ancient botanical garden is perfect for anyone who enjoys a stroll.
About
This 7ha public garden is traversed by a stream that is home to ducks, swans and geese and it displays around one hundred different botanical species. These gardens formerly allowed medical students to make use of the medicinal plants. That was the initial purpose of the garden when it was created in 1794, commissioned by naturalist Philippe Picot de Lapeyrouse.
Today, joggers and, above all, families have taken over this venue. You can find all you need to occupy the kids here: play areas, a merry-go-round that can be enjoyed every day from 2pm, a little train and sometimes even pony rides!
Thanks to the pedestrian walkways, you can easily reach the Jardin du Grand-Rond and the Jardin Royal.
