About
A parish founded in 1858, the year when the Virgin Mary appeared in Lourdes. Next to a church built in 1898, father Ravary decided to rebuild the site where these apparitions had been seen, embellished later by Canon Barthas. It is a miniature cave that emerges out of the ground. Its particularity: it has several stones from Lourdes. While excavating, a small spring was discovered and during the WWII Canon Barthas had requested the authorization to erect a public fountain from Gérard Haon, the Mayor at the time who had been designated by the Vichy government. Known for his ties to the Resistance, he was denied a building permit. He expected it to be refused but had already taken measures.
