CASTLE OF THE CASSAGNERE

Classified as a historical monument since 1979, it now belongs to the Gourdou family, who renovated it and open its doors on Heritage Days. Private property.

About

It was once a very large agricultural domain of 200 hectares, going as far as the woods of La Ramée and including several tenant farms. The current castle of bricks and white stones was built in 1680 in one go, by Baron Pierre de PAPUS, President of the "Parlement du Languedoc" and member of the "Académie des Jeux Floraux". From the XVII to the XIXth century, the cultivation of the vine, thanks to a stony ground, allowed the population of Toulouse to provide for its wine needs.
