CASTANET-TOLOSAN LOCK

Simple lock located on the Canal du Midi. Its ovoid shape served as a model for the construction of the other locks. It is flanked by a mill built by Riquet in 1674 on the diversion of the lock. The bridge and the aqueduct date from 1687. Today, a restaurant has been set up in the lockmaster's house for the pleasure of boaters and walkers. The lock has been listed as a historical monument since 1998.
