Toulouse
In Toulouse, there are many places to get a good view of the city. The starting point of our trip was the Parc de l’Observatoire on the hill of Jolimont for the view it offers over the roofs of Toulouse. It is necessary to go up to the Obelisk to admire the sunset.
But the must-see for Toulouse residents remains the Pech-David hill for family walks, sports… and picnics!
To keep with the theme, why not have lunch at Ma biche sur le Toit on top of the Galeries Lafayette?
Saint-Félix, Montjoire, Hauts-Tolosans hillsides
Between the Lauragais and the Girou hillsides, two villages perched on their hills are worth a visit. First, Saint-Félix-Lauragais, with its undeniable charm, offers a view that stretches from the Montagne Noire to the Pyrenees.
A little further north-east, from the village of Montjoire, we discover a 360° view over the Tarn valley. We follow the footpath and enjoy the view!
The ridge road from Puysségur to Cox is the highest point of the hills of the Hauts-Tolosans country which stretches towards the Gers. The road is so beautiful in summer when the slopes are adorned with the yellow of the sunflower fields as far as the eye can see. And always the line of the Pyrenees visible in the distance in good weather.
Aurignac, Saint-Gaudens
Further south, Aurignac is the must-see village of these Gascony hillsides. The vestiges of the rich medieval past of the little town on its spur are still clearly visible. We climb up to the château comtal perched at the top of the village, and at the top of the dungeon a striking view of the Comminges plain and the Pyrenees is revealed.
The further south you go, the closer the peaks get. In Saint-Gaudens, you can enjoy the view from the boulevard des Pyrénées with the Cagire and the Pic du Midi in your sights. The road that runs through the Serres above Saint-Gaudens also offers beautiful views of the massif. On the ascent to the Ares pass, an orientation table allows us to identify the surrounding peaks.
View on the summits!
You don’t have to be a great sportsman to enjoy a magnificent view of the high Pyrenean summits. From the Superbagnères station, we walk 500 metres without any difficulty to reach the ridge. Aneto, Maladeta, Spijeoles, Crabioules, Lézat, Quayrat… these summits at more than 3,000 metres seem so close that you could almost touch them with your finger!
