The Centre des monuments nationaux, which since 2010 ensures the conservation and development of the two Gallo-Roman villas, has created a site museum in the heart of the village, installed on the first floor of the former presbytery. Visitors will begin by discovering the museum composed of three spaces. These three areas of the museum will present the history of the territory of Montmaurin through three themes: its varied landscape, Montmaurin as a Mecca of Prehistory, and finally the two Gallo-Roman villas. A selection of objects found during the archaeological excavations, deposits from the Regional Archaeological Service of Occitania and the Natural History Museum of Toulouse, illustrations and photographs, as well as a digital model and audiovisuals will allow visitors to discover the long history of the territory. A scenography and a mediation will help to make the presentation more exhaustive as well as the enhancement of the archaeological wealth of Montmaurin.
